Carb issue?
Ok guys, this si my first post here in a LONG time. i just picked up my 87 yesterday. whiel at the dealer it died on us. apparently the choke closed all the way and starved the motor. now we got it started and got it home. then when i went out to start it for a friend, it fired up, ided for about 5 seconds then died. nwo i cant get iit to fire up again.
Now this was at about 8PM last night. and i had noticed my friend who drove ti home for me (cause im not that good at driving manual yet) left the elctric fan override switch on and i thought that killed that batt. but its gettin full power. interior lights are nice and bright and we tried jumping it and no luck.
Now i haven't checked too much yet. we tried sprayin startign fluid intot he carb to get ti going and nothin. so i dont think this si the same problem as before. in a few hours im gonna go out and see if im gettin spark. but is there anything with these quadrajets that causes this type of stuff to happen?
Thanx in advance,
Bobby H.

If you have the Computer Controlled Qjet on that car the ECM may be bad. I had that problem with my last engine when I was using computer control still. All the sudden it would run for at most 10 seconds then die. I changed the fuel pump and checked a bunch of other things and finally figured out the ECM had gone bad. I replaced it and never had a problem again.
