Holley Mechanical Conversion - did a search
Are the passages to the secondary pump that are missing in the VS carb in the main body or base or maybe both?

Conversion to manual secondaries, 2 easy steps:
1. Sell vac sec carb
2. Buy man sec carb
There's no other way to turn one into the other. That has something to do with why they're 2 different models. (4150 / 4160)

Well, I agree with your conversion steps, but Street Avengers are model 4150 VS carbs.

Ok, sorta done the conversion steps. I was trying to get a cheap 800cfm DP. I needed a 4165 and not the 4150.
I ended up purchasing a 4165 off of ebay, but its a 650. I have been told I can swap the main body and rejet. I hope I was told right.

For a 4150 or 4160, yes. Like a Proform main body.
For a 4165, never heard of it.

I am just planning on using a stock holley 800cfm 4165 main body. I checked the base bore on the holley site and its the same. I just hope everything else will line up.
4165 for anyone who doesn't know is just like a 4150 with a Spreadbore base instead of a squarebore.
Oh, the carb has the non race square bowls. Can I convert to the race bowls? Some 4165 carbs came with them, but I rather have the quick jet bowls.

As for the bowls, doing some offsite research I found out that 4150 bowls will not work, because the pump passages won't line up with the metering block.
I guess the question now is, will a 4150 metering block work with a 4165 main body?

I wouldn't do a conversion, they never work properly. Just sell what you have and get a real mechanical secondary carb.

The 4165 is a real mechanical secondary carb. Its going on a bucik motor and the 4150 would require an adapter. There are not many intakes available for Buick 455 motors and the eldebrock intake, the only eldebrock intake for a 455 buick is squarebore.

The only experience I've had with those spread-bore Holleys was over 20 years ago, and it wasn't a pleasant experience (I believe it was a 750 DP, which they don't even make anymore).
You might want to get RB's take on that carb (surprised he hasn't jumped back in). He seems to have had more luck with them.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 4165 is NOTHING like a 4150. I have a friend with one and even Holley had to research for part number just to replace the squirter.
