dominator intake? what kind of carb? i have a street avenger intake (dominator 2) and a 700 double pumper in my camaro. it all fits under there but without an air cleaner on top. im buying a hood with 3 inch clearence to solve the problem. i think you might have to do the same... or cut a hole and get a scoop

I think he means Dominator as in the carb series.

the fuel bowl vents hit the hood just as it completely closes so i will need to cut out a hole in the hood. i am going to need an extra 3-4" for an aircleaner????Any suggestions????anyone fitted a hood cowl before??? how did you do it????or would you recomend a complete hood??:lala:

i suggest getting a complete hood. you can get a 3 inch cowl for around 400. i think it would be the best way to do it. those aftermarket scoops wouldnt sit right without a lot work of since the bird hoods have the dip in them. not as flat as a camaro hood is. wit ha 3 inch cowl, you could fit most air cleaners in there. i would shoot for a 12 inch. i think the 14 might be too wide. edlebrock has that triangle aircleaner that looks like an open element. i might get that one myself

It's easier to change the intake manifold than the hood.

A Edelbrock Performer RPM will fit fine if you use a 14x3" GM open element Big block air cleaner from the late 60's.
The big block air cleaner base really hugs down around the carb .
fits with room to spare.
(the choke horn and bowl vents need to be shortened)
search my posts for pics and details.

The new Edelbrock EPS manifold is even shorter.
A Weiand Stealth dual plane is even lower yet.

The Holley street dominator hi rise dual plane is the highest of all the popular dual plane manifolds.

its not a holley dominator intake its a holley dominator 750cfm carb on a performer rpm intake with a 2" adapter hence the clearance problems...

a few years ago Edelbrock produced a 4500Series Dominator carb flanged version of their Torker II.
A low rise single plane street manifold that allowed direct mounting of your Dominator 750 carb.
Edelbrock now makes a Super vic manifold that fits a dominator carb PN#2970

Ram air Box makes a aircleaner base that fit a dominator carb. has a 2" drop.

dont change the maifold, just the hood. its cheaper to change the manifold but a cowl will give the car a nasty appearence. do as you like though

Whatever you do, dont buy the edelbrock breather that is triangle shaped with the foam element. Ihave seen many of these go down in flames, literally. When you car gives a good backfire (it happens sometimes) it melts the foam and pieces drop into the carb. Instant rebuild. its just not worth it.
