Hey iwas driving home i hit the gas for fun and my carb kinda backfired.. not realy but it just lost power for a split second and then went back to normal. So i am driving normal and all of a sudden i hear this subtle "Whirring" coming from the engine. and then my car dies. so i pull over and take the K&N off and the inside of the carb is BLACK. like covered in soot. before this i had issues with it driving funny. it would hesitate and i thought i had a gas problem so i replaced the fuel filter. i dont know what the hell is wrong with it

 

The "backfire" was a lean condition with the additional throttle. Check for vacuum lines that were perhaps blown off by the backfire.
