WTF how does this happen?

well got into my edelbrock carb today to play with the jets and rods and i pull the factory rods out and one is bent all to hell. i dont understand how someone could make that happen. i mean they slide right into place. i guess if it didnt want to go in right and they just pushed as hard as they can that could happen but really how dumb would a person be. here is a pic of the bent rod laying next to the other one. they both should be straight but only one is.

someone could have taken the top half of it off and not taken them out before doing so and messed it up or tried to reinstall them when the rods were still in the upper portion and forced it down bending the rod.
