I am going to be getting rid of my electricly controlled Q jet, computer and going to a traditional carb set up. I am just wondering if you guys think there will be a great difference in performance with the new set up. My motor is a 74 350 bored 30 over. It is 9.5 to one compression and built to around 300 HP. Right now I have the stock Q jet, intake, exhaust manifolds, etc. I am going to be putting on a torker intake, 79 GM HEI distributer, and either a 600-650 holly or edelbrock. I will be sticking with the stock exhaust manifolds for now till i can get headers just with the air injectors pluged up. Do you guys think I will notice a big difference in performance with this setup. My car has a T 5, 3.23 rear, and flowmasters. Also do you guys have any tips to doing this swap from the stock Q jet to a mechanical setup? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

Going to a non-CCC carb won't give you any performance increase at all, and putting on a Torker intake will probably decrease performance across the board.

A case could be made that a mechanical secondary carb is better than demand-based carbs like the q-jet, vacuum secondaries, or Performer/AFB carbs. Notice that takes one of your choices out of the equation. The other thing that needs to be done is change the distributor to a vacuum/mechanical advance type.
I agree that the Torker is a bad idea. Don't do it.
Before you do anything to try to put more into the engine, you need to handle getting it out of the engine. Do the headers first, then consider other modifications to the engine such as cam and intake.

Thanks for the info guys. I am using this car as my daily driver so the torker does sound like a bad idea. I probably will do headers then first. When I do want to do u a different intake what do u guys recomend that would be suitable for a daily driver.

The Torker would be a bad idea on any car, regardless of its indended use. Intake design has progressed in the 20 years since it was released and most newer high-rise dual planes will outperform. Your stock intake probably isn't holding you back much, there are a lot of other things you could change before you need a new intake.

I would go the opposite way from your mod plans.
I'd upgrade the exhaust first, then the cylinder heads
and then replace the intake and carb. Get a dual plane intake manifold.
