TPS and Primary Metering Rods...

Is it possible to buy a new tps and primary metering rods for a Rochester QJ Carb - 17084205 (carb #). I've tried calling a dealership, Part Source, Napa, a Delco dealer, and a carb shop. None seem to sell metering rods on their own and they're not part of a kit.

Anyone know of a place in Canada (Aperion) that sells these? None of the wreckers have these parts because apparently it's an American carb.

Any information to hunt these little bastards down would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Your best bet is to dig them out of a junkyard carb if you don't feel like ordering new. If it's a SBC V8 engine carb they should be plenty close to allow the carb to run well.

you'd think so wouldn't you? but no, I spent a day at the wreckers and couldn't find a single carb that was CC like mine, (a few had MCS without TPS), but none with TPS and the new style primary metering rods (with the little springs).
I don't mind buying new, they probably aren't too expensive, but the dealership couldn't find my carb # in his parts book, so he couldn't order me those (not even sure if they can order those...)
Any other options? Is there an interchangeable carb # that someone knows of that would have the same TPS and primary metering rods?
I can't be the only one who's ever tried to buy these right? has anyone else got them from someplace?
Thanks -J

Try a Qjet performance shop. MAYBE they have them. You may very well be the only person who's tried to buy them. All mine got dug outta junkyard carbs. You need a good junkyard- someplace that actually has old cars in it, not just the wreck-of-the-week and everything else goes in the crusher.

If it's CC, it has MCS and TPS.

What you saw on the non-CC carbs was the two-stage accelerator pump solenoid connector, not MCS.

Just clarifying that small point.

As to your issue: You might try giving Carbs Unlimited ( http://www.carbs.net/index.htm ) or some such outfit a call and see what they can do for you. (From http://www.carbs.net/Quads/E4MC.htm : "All Parts also available Used or refurbished Call 1-800-994-2272 for quote.")
