FI to Carb switch. What will I need?

My motor is a 383 stroker, 2.02/1.90 heads, 76cc combustion chambers, Performer RPM cam, Performer RPM intake manifold 700r4 tranny, 2000 stall coverter and 3.23 gears and I need to decide what carb would be best for me. I am not sure of the compression though. It is a daily driver that I take to the track on weekends. I would be willing to sacrifice some gas mileage for power, although obviously I would like to get the best compromise from both.

The other problem is is that car is actually Super Rammed FI right now, and I want to switch it over to carbed mainly because I do not have the computer for this setup (it is just the stock computer) and it is not letting the motor run right. I am also needing to know what will need to bechanged over from FI to carb. I have been told that I can use my same HEI distributor along with the in tank fuel pump, however i would have to put a pressure regulator before the carb. My tranny is also electronic lock-up so how would I have to deal with this? All your help is appreciated.

Cant use your distributor because its computer controlled - If you do, you'll get no advance whatsoever and your car would run like crap. You can use the stock TPI pump with a regulator but you need a return style like the Mallory 4309 or else you'll burn up the pump. I'd just drop the tank and replace the stock pump with rubber hose, then hook up an in-line pump like a Holley blue or black. In the long run you'll be happier.

ECM controls two things. fuel and spark.

1st is spark.
put a standard large cap HEI in. all you have to do is crimp a spade connector to the old coil power and tach wires and its wired in. done.

2nd is fuel.
you need correct fuel pressure. i used a mallory regulator. it MUST be return style.
bend some hard line and reuse the stock flex line if you wish to remain NHRA legal... you can use rubber line, but theres a limit to how much.. i want to say 12" but im not positive.

you need a carbed intake manifold and carb obviously...

you also need a bracket to hold the throttle cable, and if swapping from EFI, a shorter throttle cable.
if a auto, you also need a shorter TV cable.

you'll need a fuel pressure gauge to set the regulator, and thats about it
