i may be wrong but i have never seen a quadrajet with just one adjustment screw ... but im not up on computer controled carbs ... if its not comp. controled set your idle then turn the adj. clockwise till the r.p.m.s go up ( use a external tach if you can ) reset the idel and repeat till the eng starts to stuble then back it out ( the adj. ) till it runs smooth ... personaly i perfer to use a vacum gage but most pepole dont have one ... let us know how it turns out ... tao

Actually, he's talking about the one that is in that little hole in the front, on the top. I can't think of what it's called, but it adjusts the solonoid.
If your carb has been rebuilt, then you'll be able to adjust the idle mixture screws. They are at the base of the carb, and they req. a special "D" shaped, (or "double D") screw driver. Pep Boys, or any other parts store carries them, and there like $4-7. Then there is the butterfly screw. That just opens the throttle. That one is easy to access. It is right where the cable meets the linkage on the left side of the carb.
Other than that, there is a main metering screw that sits behind the one that you're talking about. That one, you shouldn't really mess with.
