walbro 255 to much for a carb?

I have a stock TBI pump in my car now, and it's not enough to keep the pressure up behind my engine, I have a new walbro 255, I have 6an lines, and a mallory regulator, could i run this new pump and take care of my fuel problems?

Why use 6-AN? I vote to step to 8-AN.

Otherwise the pump and a good return should be sufficient.

I ran 6an originally because I was putting a 350 in it, now that I have a 406, that I hope exceeds 400RWHP I wish I would have gone with 8an. I am using the factory return line, the only difference is the pressure line is 6an.

Low c1500,

what is the bleed off you talk about in your post. I don't understand that. Why wouldn'y the regulator be enough?

Not sure what you mean? Yes a bypass regulator will work fine. There around $150, my way lets you use a $15 holley reg, and a $10 relief, and do the same thing that the bypass reg will do.

oh ok. I have a by pass style regulator. Back to my original question, is a walbro 255 to much?

Instead of hooking up to your carb, hook up a pressure guage, as long as the regulator can keep up (ie:maintain 5psi, no more) then your fine, and no a 255 isn't too much.

Re: walbro 255 to much for a carb?

I have a walbro 255 a Mallory 4309 on a carb setup in my 85 Trans am. Carbed 355 alum 049 bowie top end ported with matched intake solid roller doug Herbert cam. I've had flooding issues, ruined power valves, extreme rich condition, tank leaked fuel from top, fouled plugs, fluctuating pressure needle of fpr won't lower below 9psi, and increases under acceleration. Carb now is 770 avenger, as I ruined my 800dp due to fire from backfire.

I have that setup in my car with the stock return line and no issues. If the return line is kinked, you may have trouble keeping the pressure low enough.
