Engine/Carb Trouble?

Hey all... i was out the other day to start my 84 trans am up and it ran for about 5-7 minutes and then it wanted to shut off on me...i gave it some gas and it started back up but when i removed my foot from the gas pedal the engine shut off. i started it back up leaving my foot on the gas pedal a little and it stayed running, i put it in gear and continued running, but when i put it back in park and let off the gas the engine shut off again. is the carburetor going bad? fule pump? just seems like its not getting enough gas when its in park possibly. please help, thanx in advance
