why not think about when,in the future (near or not),you replace the 305 with a 350,383,or 400?in that case an edelbrock rpm is the ticket.i've had my rpm on a stock 305 and it ran beautifully!
this is a great building block to a a new motorb (trust me,you'll need one by 160k miles.no offense to the 305 crowd).
everything on the 305's top end will transfer to any other smallblock(unless we consider vortec intake manifolds).
i am doing mine a piece at a time and the top end has been on a 305,a 350 and will be on a 383 next.
take the time to learn to tune a holley and the next step would be a holley 650 or 700 double pumper (if you can find one).
after that, think about upgrading the cam, then the heads.
you can build a great motor this way,by setting your sights ahead you will come out ahead in the long run.
plus there's no time limit on when it's truly done!(it will never be done if you love working on cars!)
sure the slightly bigger parts will not be optimal on the 305,but they're way better than what's on it now.

ok.. thanks for the help guys. Ive decided that im gonna save up 1200 and get that 350 tpi engine from hawks thirdgen. But id still like to get a new intake for my car that way it is now. Ive heard alot of good about the edelbrock performer RPM and EPS, so ill probally just get one of those to get a lil extra power for now.
