I have a holley blue now, but i can't stand the noise. I see there is a block off plate on the block, but not sure if there is an opening for the Fuel Pump pushrod ?
What pump is recommended ?

Correct me if i'm wrong but i don't believe there is a lobe for the fuel pump on the cam if it has a stock L98 cam in it,but yes my block has the block off plate on it as well. Just read your sig....if the cam has the lobe on it then it should be fine

Thats what I plan to go back to (had one on here when I first built this motor) and get rid of this noisy a$$ Holley black pump.I'm done with electric pumps.

my father and i are both running a stock pump for a 1985 z28 with the lg4. i have only ran a best of 13.75@100 outta my street driven 305, but my father's dart iron eagle headed/crazy lift/duration custom solid lift cammed 355 is running 11.50's without problems. i want to say the pump was between $12-20.
The question about whether the cam has the required fuel pump eccentric ground into it has been brought up before in other forums (at least once by myself).
The general consensus was that somewhere around the 1990 model year they stopped putting the fuel pump eccentric on the cams in FI motors.
I have a 1987 L-98 roller cam in my basement right now which DOES have the fuel pump eccentric. I also have a 1992 roller cam which definitely does NOT have the eccentric. I wish I could give you a straight answer but it seems to be one of those "grey areas" that ends up in doubt and confusion.
If it was me I would get the fuel pump pushrod, remove the factory block-off plate, hold the pushrod up in the motor using your finger have someone crank the engine over a revs on the starter and see if you feel it pushing in and out. It'll move almost an inch of travel if your cam has a fuel pump eccentric ground into it- really no mistaking it.

thanks.
I'm sure my cam has a fuel pump lobe on it, as it's a comp cam for the early sbc. I was curious about the opening for the fp pushrod, but you guys cleared that up for me too.
thanks
Mike
