Good old carb on a LS1!

Just a quick question but has anybody tried edelbrocks new ls1 rpm intakemanifold for a carb setup? because i was just thinking about getting an ls1 and getting that kit to slap on a carb on a ls1 so i could just make a swap easy without the hassel of fuel injection wireing and computer.

The magazine articles touting it that I've seen to date have yet to achieve the power levels of stock EFI.

So much for carb having more power potential than EFI...

From what I have read about the design of the lt1 it was made for fuel injection, If you take off the intake and look at the runners they ae super tall and have a straight shot to the valve so the injector can shoot right on top of it...

The ports are tall in order to give the air a nice straight shot at the intake valve. With the old SBC heads teh intake port sits real low and they have a nice 90 degree kink in them that restricts flow. Teh cast iron LT1 and vortec heads was GMs earier attempts at making a 2V/cylinder head flow reasonably decent by moving and raising the intake ports. There are differences between how a carb and a fuel injector introduce fuel but I dont think the LS1 would mind real much.

Its nice to know that edel makes intake manifolds. Id bet theyd be a great starting point for a custom MPFI conversion using an LS1. Something with DIS and a 730/749 ecm would be the shiznat. If I only had the money...

Not as easy as you think. Its not just an intake. You still need some way of firing the spark plugs. The LS1 doesn't use a distributor, so you're stuck with the wiring and computer issue. Luckily Edelbrock has what you need.
