Anybody have a Mighty Demon

Just curious if anyone is running a might demon from Barry Grant. I'm running a M.D 650 cfm and just can't seem to get it to run like I want it...If you have one, what did you do to tune them?

What's it doing or not doing? I've gotten my Speed Demon to be pretty close to my liking. Changed the pump cams to the blue ones and the primary shooter is a 35 instead of 31. Pretty snappy throttle response and no bogging.

The carb is running rich at idle with the mixture screws all the way in...I knocked the primarys down to 68's instead of 71's and i changed the power valve to a 4.5 instead of 6.5...it kind of falls flat at midrange-3/4 throttle, dont know whether it's getting too much air or not enough.. but at Wide open throttle, it seems to do ok....someone told me to go to bigger Low Speed air bleeds to get more air in their at the lower RPM's

Also, i forgot, under hard breaking, the car acts like it wants to cut out and takes a second for it to regain it's composure and idle smooth again.

Check your float levels and for any dirt in the needle and seat, that thing shouldn't be running with the idle mix screws all the way in. Also, maybe reset your throttle blades back to stock and work from there. Adjust both front and rear at the same time in little adjustments to get the idle speed right. Don't forget to make sure the pump arms are still set right after that. It took some tinkering to get mine going after messing up the adjustments

on my Speed Demon I had to drill out the air bleeds to like .070 to get it to idle right, still isn't perfect.

did you have to drill out the high speed and low speed air bleeds or just the low speed?

To be honest I dunno which is which... I drilled out the outter ones... They're "low speed" I guess? Real easy to do and made quite a bit of difference. When I drilled them I was like "wait, how is this very slight increase in size going to make a difference?" ...it did.

Dont Mighty Demons have screw-in air bleeds though?

Thats what I was thinking too...How can such a slight change make such a big difference? Yes the low speed bleeds are the outter ones and the high speed bleeds are closest to the boosters on the inside. I know my air bleeds screw out but I dont think you can buy different sizes, I think they only sell the blanks that you can drill out to a bigger or smaller size.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Mine came with a little packet with different sized air bleeds to stick in. Dunno where they've gone to now :/
