How dependable is this carb?
I own a '84 Trans-Am with the 305 H.O. equipped with the electronic feedback or computer controlled E4ME carb, can anyone out there tell me if this carb can be plagued with problems? Everyone advises me to toss it in favor of a standard Rochester Quadrajet with the vacuum advance distributor. I'd appreciate some helpful advice, maybe from someone who owns the same set-up, my engine is a G on my VIN code, Thanks.

Keep the E4ME until you have a compelling reason to get rid of it. It's not that much different from an M4ME.

6 years of daily driving, started with 123k miles on it, without a single carb problem. It's now going on the 350 that's replacing the 305. Putting a carb kit in just to have things right for the 350.

E4ME
Thanks all for your much needed information, I just hated the idea of changing the factory set-up on my car, the reason I'm asking about which carb to use is that I bought the car without a carb, so I'm at a fork in the road, was undecided whether to get the E4ME or the M4ME. Will now go the electronic feedback route, thanks again for making my decision easier.
