How do I tune my 1406 for this setup?
First let me say I am new to carbs, so forgive a newbie please.
I have an '86 305 with 601 heads with a mild port and polish with oversize 1.94 intake valves, performer RPM intake manifold, headers, high flow cat, 3" exhaust. stock converter and stock 3.42 gears. The carb is an Edlebrock performer model 1406 650 cfm. and an automatic TH400 trans with shift kit and torque arm.
The carb has sat for about a year so I am going to dissasemble and clean and rebuild with the edlebrock rebuild kit.
How do I know what jet sizes to use and how do I adjust and tune.
Any advise?
Thanks

First you will need to set your idle mixture screws with a vacuum gauge. While you have it apart check the floats and adjust them if needed. I would just run the stock jets and rods and then run the car and see how it does, the make changes and see if it runs better or worse. I myself just switch to a 1406 carb ( My first carb experience also) Also get your timing set right too. And by the way the 1406 is 600 cfm

The Edelbrock manual (downloadable from their website) has all the information you need to get started.
