I made a post in reply to this question a while back, i'm at work so I don't have the link in my favorites here, but a search (perhaps in the fabrication forum or general tech one...?) should bring it up....
In short, my answer is to use a smaller lid on the air cleaner, and then put some weather stripping around the regular air cleaner to seal it to the hood. Then remove the block off plate at the back, and you're good to go...
(i'm assuming this is a power bulge hood?)

my bro has a functional power bulge on his 85 from a formula that he don't need (its a fuel injected car, it has the piece that mates to the carbeurated air cleaners)
been looking to trade for a non functional of the same style with a little cash and/or the right parts
he's looking for (paint doesn't matter on any of the parts, the whole car needs paint) :
two front fenders (straight, no dents, dings and scratches are ok)
a good nosepiece (same as above)
a solid console with all trim pieces
newer style tail lights (he has the ones with the ribs on them, he wants smooth)
working rear hatch struts (ones that work no matter how cold it is, lol)
non cracked dashpad
some good rubber outside/felt inside weatherstrip that seals against the window at the top of the door in the window channel
the plastic trim piece for the INSIDE at the top of the door, the one that hides the edge of the door panel (he MAY have camaro door panels, we don't know firebirds too well, but just so you know, the same piece is found on my 92 camaro, maybe that will help narrow down what it is)
a good heater core that isn't beat to crap (his just blew today, lol)
