Need to replace carb, but have a few questions

"Carb should be overhauled, seals leaking, many vaccum leaks"

That is the quote on the inspection sheet I got. How much can those kind of issues affect performance?

Too vague to really know. But i will probably effect idling also. How does the car run?

The car runs very smooth and idles well since I just did a tune up and put some nice platinum sparks in there. The only problem is it has problems starting on a cold start. If I leave the car parked for 6 hours then try and start it, that is when I have problems.

If it runs like you describe I don't think there are many, if any vacuum leaks. The choke maybe suspect though for a cold start. But, if you had a "professional" tune up your car i would assume that he verified the choke was working properly. You can do some searches to find discussions on proper choke operation and adjustment. But, if it is idling and running smooth i would not recommend a carb rebuild. I know my car (lg4) on a cold start requires 5 pumps of the gas pedal before I turn the key. Not sure why so much, but I have had the carb rebuilt and still requires 5. Tried numerous combinations of less pumps with no luck. 5 pumps and it starts right off.

Sounds like the primary well plugs are leaking.
