Major Carb Problems
Major Carb Problems
OK, I rebuilt my carb. Thing runs good till it starts to warm up. Then it idles down to 500 rpm and tries to cut off, after that it goes to about 750 and surges. She is running super rich. A "mechanic" came over and started turning the adjustment screws and said nothing happened. I also, after he "adjusted" have a check engine light. It was blinking 34, not sure now. Any ideas.

Don't let that "mechanic" touch your car again.
The computer was attempting to control the idle mixture while he was playing with it. Unless he had a dwell meter set on the 6 cylinder scale attached to the "green connector", he wouldn't have any way of knowing if anything happened while he fiddled with "the adjustment screws". I'd suggest you return things to the settings suggested by the rebuild kit instructions. When I rebuilt mine, the initial settings were close enough that only a small tweak was required to get the IAB set correctly (probably could have left it where it was and not noticed any problems).
Code 34 would be a MAP sensor error. I can imagine that causing problems if not operating correctly. Why it came up after his "adjustments", I don't know.

https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/faq/thirdgen.shtml , toward the bottom of the page.
"Tach Input Error" occurs when you disconnect the ECM connector to set the timing. If you didn't do that, then you've got a problem with that circuit.

It's a flat 4-wire connector that comes off of the base of the distributor and goes to the wiring harness on the firewall. It can be difficult to locate down in that small, dark space.

Wait, yours is an '87. I believe that one is a brown/black-striped one-wire connector by the AC box.
