Holley Intake Q's

I've read on a few sites that the Holley Contender dual plane is a good intake, is this true? I have it with a Holley 750DP. I'm pretty sure it's the 300-36 intake, but it's not here so I can't check. It's good up to 7200rpm correct? Anyone else run this intake?

the 300-36 has bigger runners and a bigger plenum than the performer rpm.imo its a great dual plane intake.

yes i have it on my 383 and its one of the best intakes for the money you can get idle-7,200 rpm its great intake pretty much just a notch below the rpm air gap and ive seen them hit the same numbers... i run mine with a 770 street avenger now and it has no problem sucking down the air in the high 6-7000 range i say clean it up and keep it.. one of the best dual plane intakes ive ever owned

Sweet

Yeah I was planning on swapping out the intake for a x-celerator or victor, but now I'll just keep it. I'll be switching carbs though as my 750DP is mechanical secondaries and manual choke. Getting a Speed Demon 650 or 750 VE.

a double pumper holley will always be quicker than a VS carb at the track.

I just hate the fact that it's mechanical and manual choke. My buddy has a '74 Duster with a 360 and has the same carb and is always tinkering with it to get it to run right. I might get a deal on the speed demon so I figured why not.

you going to have to play with the VS carb just as much to get it running right, and the choke issue....well i guess you are in canada afterall so an electric choke would be nice. I have no choke on my 750 DP and i just have to give it a little gas for the first few minutes to keep it running before I take off in 40 degree weather.

i need to fix my 770 right now, the corner busted on the base plate at the accelerator pump, but i tossed in the smallest spring i could find for the vacume secondaries and then adjusted the elctric choke pretty far so it rarely is used but i normally dont drive in to cold of weather so its fine... but so far im impressed with it i had a 650DP holley on it before and it never responded half as well as this new one i get better gas millage when im just cruising and it gives me just as much if not more when i stomp on it, not sure what im going to do now though if i cant find another base plate i might just go for a new carb.

Well the car is only driven during the summer months, would having a manual choke be all that difficult? I mean, I just leave it open when starting it than close it once I get moving? My buddy just leaves it half open/closed, his car seems to respond the best to that.

honestly aslong as your just in the summer or dry months..lol being your about the same area i am... you should be good i never use mine in the summer i only needed it the end of fall when it started to cool off a bit but all spring and summer it was disconnected... aslong as you get it tuned nice you shouldnt need it till a big drop in temps...

well if it's only in summer then just zip tie it in the open position or you shut it almost completely initially until the motor warms up then it should be open all the way. I just typically remove them if it's a summer only car.
