I've already got the carb i want, intake and fuel pump. I dont feel like learning how to burn chips or paying someone to do it, so im just going to switch it to carb. My question is this, what years of heads can i look for? I just want to find a cheap set of heads off of a 350 on ebay or something. What years will bolt onto my motor? I'm just going to run it hard until the 305 bites the bullet, then i'll build something else.

Get an LT1 or similar cam and just use the stock heads. At low pressures with a 3-way regulator, the stock tbi pump should be able to supply the 305 for now as long as its not on its way out. You will also need a whole new ignition system as well.

As for the tuning, even with a carb you cant escape it. The timing and fueling still need to be set properly for the engine to make good power.

Yes, but i have tuned carb's before so im alot more comfortable with that than ****ing around with the computer. I'd rather just swap the heads, crappy swirlports **** me off. That way at least i'll already have a set for when i start the new motor. I may be running it until it grenades, but i want to be a little faster while im doing it.

Me personally? Id jsut leave the swirl ports in place and do the cam instead. The loss of compression will hurt more then any extra flow you may get from some generic 350 heads. Replace the weenie little cam instead.

Yes, 305s and 350s had different cc's.

Ok, than can someone give me a good set of heads, besides the s/r 305's? I was thinking sportsman 2's. I dont care about comp. loss as they will be going on a 350 eventually.

EDIT: This is all in case i end up keeping my car, either i have to give to my dad cause i owe him money and i'll probably just end up buying a 94-94 5.0. Or i get lucky and can keep it.

I like AFR's but being $1000+ they could be out of budget.
