Need help finding a carb
I'm getting a new 350 installed in my T/A. Since it's being done under warrenty with free labor I'm going to have a new intake and carb installed. I'm going to go with the edelbrock air-gap intake but I'm having trouble finding a good carb. Based on the carb equation I need anywhere from a 600 to 650 cfm with an electric choke and vacuum secondarys (since it's a daily driver). Does anyone have some suggestions on carbs that would fit the bill?

650 double pumper with electric choke.
Daily driver doesn't have anything to do with mechanical vs. vacuum secondaries. 4-speed manual does. Get the double pumper. "Tuning" and "daily driver" go hand in hand, but tuning goes with a bunch of other stuff, too.

Thats pretty cool. I wanted a mechanic carb but was told that it would burn more gas. Do you have any suggestions on a reliable 650 double-pumper that is easy to tune?

There are only two choices in mechanical secondary carbs: Holley & Demon.
I used to be pretty high on Demons, and they are pretty good, but they are more expensive than Holleys. Both are of the same basic design, and many tuning pieces interchange between them.
The most basic would be a Holley 4777C (the "C" means a dull yellowish dichromate finish, vs "S" which is a shiny finish). It comes with a mechanical choke, so you'll have to add an electric choke kit. From Summit, the carb is p/n HLY-0-4777C, $321.88, or HLY-65-4777 which is a rebuilt carb $293.88; choke conversion kit HLY-45-224, $41.95. Then you'll need a fuel line, SUM-G3100, $14.95, some tuning pieces like jets & PV's, and a book that runs you though the basics. Or, a Speed Demon from Jegs, 132-1282010, $439.99, plus a choke kit 132-421440, $51.99 (they call them "Twin Squirter" carbs, because "double pumper" is a Holley TM).
(Interesting, Summit doesn't appear to be carrying Barry Grant products anymore.)

Ok looks like I'm bringing this tread back to life. Does anyone know if there's an Edlebrock 650 double pumper that would go with an air gap intake? If not, can anyone recommend a nice 650 double pumper that comes with eletric choke or is it just cheaper to convert from manual to electric myself?

The Edelbrock carbs have mechanical butterflies, but the air flow is controlled by an air valve above them. No double pumper type carb by Edelbrock.
I did a seach on summitracing.com for a 650 double pumper with electric choke. CFM choice was 600-675 CFM, the only one that came up was a 600 CFM marine carb. $450.
Just get the electric choke conversion kit.
