carb replacement
I have a stock E4ME and I would like to replace it with original Equipment. Are there any recomended Parts suppliers to purchase from or is it best to use local parts stores. Rebuild is not an option due to a warped air horn and aftermarket is not an option because it is a California car with a functioning emissions system. (believe it or not it passed before i overtightened the cover screws.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are probably best off getting a used carb on Ebay and rebuilding it. The rebuilt Qjets you are getting from auto parts stores are just as much a crap shoot as redoing one yourself. The jetting on the parts store carbs may or may not be for your application. A rebuild kit via GP sorensen through Autozone is $22 for the E4ME. I just bought a 1984 Trans Am E4ME on ebay for $5.25 plus shipping.

If the rest of the carb is fine besides the airhorn, you can probably pcik up another E4ME carb from the junkyard or buy one on the classifides section on TGO and just transfer the new airhorn to your existing carb. But, like 327 said, the replacement carbs you buy at auto parts stores are really not that good.
