Adjusting Secondaries...

Hey guys im having the problem of my secondaries not kicking in when I go to try and pass someone or something of that nature.... Its a new edelbrock performer 600cfm carb. Is there any way to be able to adjust this on the carb.? Could It be how the linkage is set up or something of that nature...

Thanks for your help .....

How do you know they aren't opening?

The opening rate is controlled by weights on the air valve. You'd have to change the weight in order to change the opening rate. The Thunder series has an adjustable AV, but not the Performers.

It has a counter balance, once their is enough of a draw they will open.

If the motor is on its way out, lacking compression etc. It wont open the secondarys till high up in the RPMs. 3 of my old motors were like this, then on my new motor using the same carb i can hear the secondarys open around 2500-3000RPM.

I would guess timing before the secondaries not opening.

Those who say they know say if you can feel your secondaries opening, they aren't adjusted properly. No power is a different matter.

I dont think you feel them opening as much as you can hear them. I know for sure its easy to hear them open with my open element filter...
