Identifying a quadrajet part

What's the yellow arrow pointing to? I'm just curious what that thing is next to the electric choke.

primary choke pull-off diaphragm

it has 2 jobs: to crack the choke open a little bit at cold start-up, and to control the opening of the scondary air valve

Transmission: T10, hurst shifter
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
It's a design feature. Other carbs use different methods to do that job.
