alright well im still workign on my car and its just not going right at all. when i put it into gear the car wants to bog down and then pop/ backfire out the carb. and also when its idling after a little while it wants to pop out the exhaust too. do i have a messed up valve?

it sounds like ignition problems... whats your timing set at? whats the gap? check your spark, a weak spark could do that.

 

Since an '89 did not come with a carb, you need to tell us exactly what was done to convert it to carb.
