"cam" when talking about cars refers to the camshaft and has nothing to do with a carburetor or fuel injection. Do a google search for "cam" and "camshaft" to get a good definition of what they are and what they do.

the cam is what opens and shuts the valves in the heads. the carb is a device that meters air and fuel for the engine to burn

alright thanks guys.. i knew what a camshaft was, i just wasnt aware that cam was an abreviation for that... i just remember somebody asking me if i had a cam put on it.. and it confused me.. either he didnt know what he was talking about or something becuase all cars have a cam correct... you can just buy preformance cams that will open more or faster correct?

Because you have a built 350, bored over, your friend was probably just asking if the engine had a "performance" cam put in when it was built.
