Light throttle stuttering issue....

Well, I got the new engine in and running, and it runs really good. I have noticed a small issue with driveability, and hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. I have a 383 stroker with AFR heads and an Edelbrock 1407 750 CFM manual choke/manual secondaries carb. Now, when I am cruising in (any) gear at light throttle(below 1800-1900 RPM) the car bucks and stutters. If I give it a little more gas and get the RPMs up to say 2000 RPM the stutter goes away. I have driven the car about 30 miles so far, so naturally I pulled the plugs to inspect them. They are a nice healty tan, so the fuel mixture seems to be dead nuts on. I even disconnected my vacuum advance canister on the distributor thinking that maybe I was getting too much advance. Even with the advance canister hose plugged it does it. I'm not sure what to do next seeing as how everything else is working perfect. It idles beautifully at 950 RPM with 9 inches of engine vacuum. Here are the engine specs...

383 Stroker....

Comp Cams 12-433-8 Hydraulic Retrofit Roller .520/.540 lift 236/242 duration with a 110 LSA

AFR 195 street heads 70 cc chambers roughly 10:1 compression

Edelbrock RPM air gap manifold with 750 CFM carb

Ignition timing 36 degrees total at 3000 RPM

Hooker Super Competition long tube headers 1 3/4 primaries

To me everything seems to be in good order. The engine makes incredible power. 1st and 2nd gear are useless, and anything more than 1/2 throttle in 3rd gear lites the tires up. I don't know if anything can be done to solve this issue, or am I just asking for waaay too much with this cam/intake/carb combo??? Any input or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!!

i had the same problem with that carb, now its sitting on the shelf in my garage. i think there is something wrong with those things a lot of people seem to have problems with them.

but something that happened to my so maybe check it out. of the passengerside of the carb is the secondary linlage. there is a removable L shaped piece that connects the primary linkage to the secondary linkage. it is designed to start opening the secondaries after the primaries have open like 65% percent or so. i actually had the carb come in the box with a defective piece that was bent wrong. it was not L shaped, but looked like it was closed to far almost like a J. so what was happening was the seconadries were starting to come in right off idle and thats not good, and after a little more opening, the linkage would bind.

something to look at
