Need help on q-jet installation.
My friend gave me a pretty old non-cc q-jet. It ran on his car previously. When it was on his engine he adjusted the mixture screws and got them completley out of whack.
I know how to bolt the sucker on, but I dont know what I should do with the mixture screws. This is a very old q-jet where the mixture screws are actually flat head. I have a vacuum gauge also, but I dont know what port to hook it up to to get MAX vacuum reading.
I would like to do this install today so if you guys have any knowledge that I could use, I would greatly apprecaite it.

Turn each idle mixure screw in until it lightly seats. Then turn them each back out 1-1/2 turns.
After you get it started and warmed up, adjust both screws 1/4 turn at a time until you get the maximum vacuum reading. It will run a little cleaner if you turn them each back in 1/4 turn after that.

*sigh* too bad that the linkages arent the same. My tv cable wouldnt reach the ****. How hard is it to change the linkages between q-jets?

Not extremely difficult, but by no means simple.
You basically need to disassembly both carbs. You need to remove the screws from the shaft that hold in the butterflies, and those screws have been swagged to keep them from coming out. It needs to be disassembled so you can release the attached links and be able to clean out the debris created from removing the butterfly screws.
