What type of air cleaner assembly?

I was just wonder what would be the best type of air cleaner setup? I've seen the K&N plenum adapter thing (http://www.knfilters.com/Racing/plenum.htm), that makes it so you can attach an every day cold air intake system, and the other I was considering was one of those air flow tops that just give more flow to an open air element (http://www.knfilters.com/universal/X-stream.htm). So I was just wondering what would be the best setup?

The X-Stream top sits in the underhood blanket. Doesn't do much good in there, and still pulls in hot air unless you have a cowl hood.

I doubt the plenum would fit under the hood without a cowl hood - sits too high.

So, not much point in the plenum if you have a cowl hood, which you'll need to use it, or the X-Stream lid which requires a cowl hood in order to be effective.

Do you have a cowl hood?

I've also heard the X-Stream lid doesn't make for smooth air flow into the carb, which seems strange when you first hear it but makes sense when you start thinking about the dynamics of fluid flow.
