clearance problems

I have a Wieand Action series manifold on my 350....having a major problem getting an air cleaner to fit under the hood.....using an Edelbrock Elite series drop base and it just wont sit below the lip on the fenders where the hood sits when closed......a 2" high element is too low, the brackets and vent tube on top of the carb stick up higher than the filter .......thinking of going back to the stock manifold........anybody run into this s ort of problem ??????

What carb are you using?

Do you have a spacer under the carb?

Don't judge clearance by the fender lips. My air cleaner sticks above them and doesn't hit the hood.

Re: clearance problems

nope, no carb spacers........just the Wieand and a Q-jet.......I'll try a 3" element, and keep my fingers crossed....just dont want to screw-up anything, and I gotta have a filter to drive around town....where I work turns into a dust bowl in the summer....
