Carb too small?

My setup is in my sig. and the problem i'm having is that my car plays hell reving over 6000, and i really dont know if it would go over 6500. It's not an inaccurate tach either, i have a new autometer in. so i'm wondering, could this be because my carb is only a 650, and won't allow enough air and fuel? or do i need to be looking more at the weak stock ignition? thanx.

Re: Carb to small?

a 650 sounds a little small, and if you still have a stock ignition i would upgrade that first and see what happens, then maybe the carb.

Re: Carb to small?

Do you hit a wall at 6000 or does it just drop off drastically in power? You could be limited by valve float, carb size, cam specs, ignition... several factors can limit your max RPM.
