New engine rebuild need tuning help!

Hey guys well to start off I just got done rebuilding my lg4 out of my 83 trans am. and I put a hei distributer and a qutrajet jet carb non feedback on it also I put a cam in the car. Well first off if i start the car it idles at 1950 rpm witch is two high but when I put it in to gear it drops to 900 rpm why is there such a big gap there??? next if im driving the car it runs ok but if I try to go to WOT it DOES NOT really take off it not very quick. so whats with my tuning??? where do I need to go with it?

yes I have the vac line hooked up but my teacher at school helped me with it and it has vac from two diff sources on the carb, Should I just take it from one source on the carb? and the timing I had to do by ear cause I dont have timing markes on the timing cover so I have it close but its the first time ive ever timed a car but I know the basics on how to do It so I think im close on the timing but prob not perfect.

you should really look into getting a timing marker on there. that could be an issue. It may seen to be running smooth, but it can still be way to high. I've seen people try and compensate problems by pumping the timing way up...not a good way to go.
I've never seen anyone hook up more than one vaccum line. just go with one. you'll get goofy RPM issues with vaccum problems.
