Re: runninng rich

How much advance are you running at an idle? Also, what are you using for spark plugs? I believe those heads call for an autolite AR133, a very cold plug.

I have an engine combo very close to yours, same heads and a very similar cam. Mine needs a lot of initial advance to idle decently, I also switched to a carb with 4-corner idle.

Re: runninng rich

dude....2.5 turns out is way too much for the idle screws. on a holley it should be from .5 to 1.5 turns out. did you use a vacuum gauge to dial in the idle? should have the screws set for the highest vacuum at idle.

Re: runninng rich

We have very similar combos... and I'm having the same problem you are. I think I personally need to just drive the car a little bit. I havn't driven mine either. Tonight I am changing plugs, fuel filter, draining my old gas, taking off the carb and cleaning it out. I think this should do it. What is your initial timing at? I run about 21 degrees initial, 34 degrees in by 2500 rpm. Also, what P.V. do you run?
