X-STREAM AIR FLOW LID FOR AN L03
I have used the cowl induction system from an 82-84 trans am on my 92 firebird formula and I want to add to it with a k&n extreme air flow lid. The sublid, which is what the airflow lid would replace, measures 12'' but I can only find them in 9'', 11'' and 14''. No one has them in stock around here, so I can't test to see if the 11'' would work or not. Could someone tell me which one I need?
Thanks

Are you trying to use the K&N lid on the stock cleaner assembly?
Are you also wanting to use the solenoid that opens the flap in the hood?
I would assume you would need a complete after market air cleaner assembly, that solenoid / flap seems more of a restriction than actual help, I have a 91 formula, I got a screen grill for the opening and put that in place with no solenoid flap assembly... I have a tpi, but your tbi or carb would benefit more since it's closer...

I have the k&n filter that replaces the stock one. I have the flap always open. I would take the flap completely out, but I havn't looked at it hard enough to see how to get to it. I have made the hole on the underside of the hood bigger to fit the gasket also. The air filter top would finish it off. From what I can tell, the air filter top has to be the same size as the sublid. Even if I did get a whole new assembly I don't think It would work right if it was not the same size.

So you have the stock / restrictive air cleaner assembly...
I would just get a compabiblte size cleaner, filter & lid... remove the functional scoop, I know there's 4 bolts boy the opening and probably a couple more holding it in...You can use that grille since formula's had a block off plate..
