Fuel pressure problem.
Hello, I have a 1987 Iroc-Z that has ben switched from TPI to carburated. The person who changed it went with the original fuel pump and put a regulator on it. When i first got it the fuel pressure was set a bit high, so i tuned it down to about 7psi. wich i assume is a good psi for my edlebrock 650. anyways to the problem. after driving my car for a few hours ill notice it starts running like crap and stalling out. so i pop the hood check the fuel pressure and its down to like 1 maby 1.5psi... the next morning i get up turn on the pump.. and its back to normal.. iv talked to some people about whats going on and they say that its getting hot and slowing down.. so now i know what the problem is but dont know how to fix it. is there an easy way to get around this? without having to drop the tank.. like maby a booster pump? any advice will be great thanks!!

if you are using the stock pump you will need a ruturn style reg like mallory 4309. this will make sure that the pump has a constant stream of fuel, it aklso helps the pump stay cool. Senior Member

Alright just making sure. cus thats how it is ran hehe. all the lines are correct and the regulator is set to the right psi. but it still drops in pressure the longer its ran.. could this be fixed with a 4-7psi booster pump between the regulator and carb?

Re: Fuel pressure problem.
yeah that should mask your problem it won't really fix it. it is most likely your pump going out
