accelerator pump check valve
I have a question for what i think is called a accelrator pump check valve its the orange piece with the nipple that pushes through a hole on the fuel bowls were the accelrator pump diaphram sits on top. My question is that when i rebuilt my car i didnt see how long the one that was in it was and put the one that came in the kit on the car and it was too long and it held the float bowls up so i trimmed it was i suppose to do that is this normal? Reason i ask is ever since the overhaul whenever im hard on the breaks the car bogs down and drops a couple hundred rpms then recovers when im stopped.

Re: accelerator pump check valve
hmm...did you check your float levels after you rebuilt it?
if your check valve wasn't working properly, you wouldn't have a pump shot. basically you probably wouldn't be able to start or keep the car running...don't ask me why i know this.

I've had to trim it on a couple of Holleys. Being trimmed isn't causing your problem.

Re: accelerator pump check valve
float level seems fine both front and rear bowls just dribble out of the sight plug.
