need help with carb tuning

i just bought a 1968 pontiac catalina with a 400 and a 2 barrel carb. this car run extremely rich and has a lack of power because of it . can some one help me adjust the carb ,? i have never messed with a carb before.

What is it with the sudden rash of non-3rd gen threads?

Can't even make this one "3rd gen related". No 2bbl offered, can't imagine anyone swapping a 2bbl into a 3rd gen (although it's probably been done - certainly not recommended).
