hard starting
i have an 87 f-bird with essentially an LG4 but it is a 355 + a T5 with the LG4 cam and it is carbed still with tpi heads and an edelbrock performer intake and 1407 edelbrock carb this has an electric choke and some a-hole disconnected the linkage for it and i have never even witnessed the secondaries open although i get a good .9 mv on the O2 sensor at wot
any how the problem comes after the car sits for about a week or more and then it takes forever to turn over because its not getting fuel and id i pump the throttle it doesn't squirt any gas the car has no leaks any where all the gaskets are new from the oil pan to the carb and there has never been a smell of fuel anywhere it just cranks for about 45 seconds and turns right over then turns over like the motor was already warm and it was only 30 degrees out and had been running for about a minute sticky float? let me know what you think and thanks ahead of time!
please don't tell me to get a 750cfm dp I'm working on that

My secondaries open with air cleaner off and pushing back on the linkage to give it gas.

sounds like you have a mix of problems.. ignition and the carb probably needs to be rebuilt.. i'm sure i 650 would help too

An '87 has an in-tank electric pump. It probably isn't working. I'm not complete sure how it is powered, but it shouldn't have been affected by the removal of the computer carb (which was a bad move). But, it probably hasn't been working the whole time you've had the car, and when it has sat for awhile without being operated, it is taking even longer to reprime the pump and get fuel up to the carb.
Getting the choke fixed would be a good idea. Edelbrock should be able to set you up with a new link.
I'd either get that in-tank pump working, or remove it as documented in the sticky in the top section of this forum.

Re: hard starting
Sh!+ guys im pretty sure that i have both fuel pumps because i have thought that i heard an electric one numerous times but the fuel lines run down the passenger side i know that on tpi cars it runs down the driver side does that make a difference as to whether or not i have an electric pump i guess ill leave it in the on position before cranking next time
if i do have both which one should i remove?
i guess ill look for a fuel pump fuse is there one?

The carb fuel lines start back at the axle on the driver's side, come up to the trans tunnel and go up and over to the passenger side frame rail, then up to the engine mounted mechanical fuel pump.
