Quadrajet advice needed

Hello everyone !

I have a functionnal (but not without glitches) stock CCC quadrajet on my 86 LG4 IROC-Z and i plan on replacing it.

In the spirirt of always keeping my car in drivable state, i bought another quadrajet, wich i planned on rebuilding to replace mine.

I do no know the model of the carb on my car, only that it's stock.
A mechanics shop around where i live will rebuild it for me.
- My other carb is a 17086004 (think it was from an 86 Monte carlo)

I wanted to know the follwing :

Do you think the 6004, once rebuilt, will be plug and play ? (meaning all the plugs, hoses, vaccums, linkage fits, and of course there will be tuning to do)

Do you have any advice on where to buy a rebuild kit for this 6004 carb ?

Thank you very much !

Yes, as long as that is an E4ME carb and not an M4ME, it will be totally fine.

Everything I'm finding says it's a 1986 E4ME carb. A Monte Carlo site said LG4 (L69 Monte was a 6003).

Most any parts store should either have or be able to get a rebuild kit for it.

Ok, i will check with my auto parts store.

I was wondering if anyone had a good source online, because where i live auto parts store are rare and they charge what they want, under the pretext that transport costs them too much.

Thanx guys !

(BTW : M4ME would be manual choke am i right ?)

Non-computer.

Only sources I know are U.S.

Re: Quadrajet advice needed

Since you're looking for Quadrajet advice let me add mine. Bolt on the 17086004 and see how it runs. If it doesn't need rebuilding then rebuilding it isn't going to make anything better.
