Need help...

I have been reading the boards for ages and this is my first post...yay...

Situation is: I have a 87 Z-28 with a 305 LG4. The stock carb is tired and rebuilding it is not working any more....she is gone.... So I need a new one, where could I go, or what could you guys recommend?

This is a daily driver and I dont need to drink more than I have to.. I have searched the board and other sites and the information is a bit overwhelming. Many posts praise the Rochester Q-jet, (almost equal posts damn it), if that is the way to go, where could I get a good one. I also am not made of money.. so being cost effective is vital!

Thanks for the help.

You could always purchase a reman.

Re: Need help...

although i favor tearing things apart yourself and learning how they work. my good buddy recently installed a reman CC Qjet on his LG4. all he had to do was fiddle with the idle speed screw. everything else came preset.

+2 for the reman.

Re: Need help...

I'll check it out. Any special reman group or company in particular? I've heard that they were a mix of both good and bad ones.

so the LG4 is a quadra-junk set-up stock???

If it is, then just go to Advanced Auto Parts and get a reman.... if it's not, then go buy a nice reman holley 525cfm carb, or edelbrock (have not had very good luck with them in the past, but again it was 15+ years ago) DO NOT go larger than a 600 on that motor, it will be pointless.

Re: Need help...

Are they computer controlled carburetors? I have not had any luck finding anthing other than the remanufactured rochester Q-j's..... As far as I know Edelbrocks are not computer controlled....I want to get her on the road. 600 is what I wanted, no need for me to go larger.

Thanks for the responces.
