Converting to carb, fuel pump wiring

This is kind of half in the electronics section, half in here... the electronics guys would be able to answer it probably, but I figured it'd fit a little better here and most of you guys have experience with it. If mods want to move it that's fine.

I haven't been able to find a diagram of hte fuel pump wiring, but from what I understand there's +12v going through the oil pressure switch, then to the pump. Parallel to this, there's the ECM sending +12v via a relay to prime the pump for initial startup. It's my understanding that once you have significant oil pressure, that side of the circuit takes over, and at some point the ecm deactivates the relay.

With a carb, will the fuel bowls stay full enough after say a day, a few days, or a week or so, that priming the pump is unnecessary, and fuel delivery once the oil pressure switch kicks in would be sufficient?

Im thinking I may wire in a +12v switch to the relay to be able to manually prime the pump anyway, but I'm just trying to make sure I understand all of it correctly. I ask because Im looking to get rid of the ECM entirely.

I have mine wired up just like it was from the factory and I have had no problems in five or so years.
