shes up and running- a few last questions

so i got her up and running thanks to the help from a lot of you. making about 15lbs of vaccume at idle should i just leave the stock 65 power valve in of change it ?... running good. but when im cruzing and i begin to pust the throttle it gets real lean (yay VS) i have already put in a lighter spring and it didnt really help should i begin to up the jets? Also the trans isnt down shifting when i smash the gas, im sure it has something to do with my tv cable i installed holeys tv cable bracket and also a corrector on the throtle linkage.. When the car was TPI the detent cable was extended about 2" and now after a reset and WOT pull the detent is only 1 click out should i pull it out further manually?

The spring doesn't change mixture ratio, just the opening rate of the secondaries. If you need to jet up, jet up.

The TV cable should be properly adjusted. I don't know off hand if a TPI TV cable can be adjusted for a carb application. Try to run through the adjustment procedure, if it won't adjust properly, put a carb TV cable on it.

There definitely is... carbed cars with 700s need that cable, same as any other.

Parts stores, GM, transmission places on the web. Basically, the usual suspects.

See the "tuning Holley" sticky at the top of this forum for instructions on optimizing the jetting, power valve, and off-idle transition.

When you check the application guide, for all models listed as Fuel Injection it says "Note: Will not fit Tuned Port Injection". I am guessing when they say fuel injection they mean TBI.

Again, this assumes you can't properly adjust the TPI TV cable on a carb, which I don't know one way or another. Since the B&M cable note says it won't work on TPI, there's a good chance the factory TPI TV cable won't work properly on a carb.

Re: shes up and running- a few last questions

The TPI TV cable is much longer since the throttle body and linkage is at the front of the intake. I would suspect that the carb/TBI TV cables are the same or very close in length.

While that is true, you can run the cable in a circle and point it back to the carb. The real question is how much the cable sticks out of the housing.

I understand they are, but again, I don't know details. I suspect some that have done the swap didn't pay proper attention to the fine details on this, but, I haven't done it myself so I can't say one way or the other.
