Hello. I'm considering options for a new carb. Up to now I've had Holley VS carbs. My car currently has a stock smog=era 350, T5 trans, 3:73's at the rear and sees no track time. From what I've read on the boards, I'm leaning towards mech secondaries this time. I'd like some confirmation of this as a choice for a street only vehicle. (don't know what the car weighs..full interior + I weigh 180lbs)
Also, I'm wondering weather I should stick with Holley or go with Quick fuel's offering at the following link:http://www.jegs.com/i/Quick+Fuel/793...764151%7C10271
They offer mech or VS secondaries as well as a version with annular boosters. My understanding though is that annular booster are for engines where low vacuum is an issue. For a stock engine, down leg would be a good choice?
Alternatively, I bumped into a guy who has a 650 street avenger (VS) for sale for about $150.00 less than retail at the local speed shop.
Thanks for any input.

you need a mechanical secondary for a stick car with any power at all. period.
then id say a stock is 350 i would get something arround a 600cfm

650 double pumper would be fine, if you EVER plan on upgrading down the road then jump up to a 700 or 750 double pumper. The reason someone is selling a street avenger cheaply is because they are unhappy with its performance probably. I run a proform 750 carb and am happy with its tuneability along with a cheaper than quickfuel pricetag.
Thanks guys. I'm not set on Quick Fuel or anything, but when I did a search on the boards here it yielded few results. So I was wondering if there was something people didn't like about their stuff or if they are just lesser known.
Actually scratch that. I just did a search on "QFT" instead. That brought up a number of hits including a couple of useful ones from you Xpndbl13.
I'm sure I've read complaints about Proform and Holley parts compatibility not being spot on. I think the passages in Holley metering blocks not lining up true with the Proform main bodies or something...
Anyhow, if I was to go this route would I be looking at dealing with only proform for after-sale service or are off-the-shelf Holley parts just fine?
