I have an edelbrock 1406 carb with .101 jets in the secondarys and the next biggest size in the primaries ive also got the smallest rods possible in the primaries. My problem is i have a 350 ci with performer rpm intake and a mild cam. With the setup i have now i have a bad bog at wot and off of idle. at part throttle there is low power (engine has low power to begin with for some reason) but im also getting some decent pinging. I dont know wether my carb is junk or it is just something small but please help its driving me nuts.

 

You cannot get the carb right until everything else is right. If you have pinging you have low grade fuel and / or too much ignition advance. First and for most make sure you have good hot ignition with proper timing. Make sure you have proper heat range plugs with correct gap. From there check all connections/ hoses for vacuum leaks. Once you have these worked out, you can begin to tune the carb.
