406 carb
Hi guys,
I am replacing my little TPI 5.0 with a 406 and will be moving to a carb in the process. Currently, I have a Holley 650, 4165 spread bore carb, but it will need a rebuild kit, some choke parts and a spread / square bore adapter to complete its installation. The other option I have been looking at is installing a new AED 750 HO series carb (No choke, square bore) and was looking for some opinions on this addition for my usage.
The vehicle will be a summer driver only, (in Canada) with possibly some autocross and the odd 1/4 mile track days occurring. I am thinking that with a little patience during start ups I may be able to get away from using a choke type carb, as I feel the limited hood clearance of the TA and the use of a choke tower causes a lot of air flow limitation to the intake tract. For intake, I am planning to use a Spectre dual element intake system with the filters in the front fender corners. (relocate battery to rear)
My engine / trans is as follows;
- 10.263 static compression with 65cc Patriot Performance 195cc (White Perf) heads
- Edelbrock Performer RPM intake (square bore)
- White Perf indicated I shoudl see approx 460 hp from this combo when I purchased the heads and cam from them, with max. RPM around 5600.
- MSD Digital 6 / HEI ignition
- Transmission is the stock WC T5 until the funds are ready for the TKO 600.
- Rear end is the stock 10 bolt which is currently being fed steriods.
Thanks for any comments.

Re: 406 carb
Is the AED 750 HO series a good solution for this purpose or should I be looking at any other Holley models? ( I have yet to purchase this carb.) I like the idea of the additional carb tuning AED does and do prefer Holley carbs.
