Can anyone tell me the number of the correct Q-Jet carb for a 1986 IROC with 305 engine and a manual transmission?

Also if possible the casting number of the correct intake manifiold and cylinder heads.

I bought this car with the engine disassembled so I just want to make sure that the manifold that I was given, which is factory aluminum, and the heads that I have #416 are the correct items.

Most likely the intake is as well if it is a spreadbore type.

Do you have a carb you can give the number of? That would be simpler than finding and listing all possibilities.

It's probably the right carb.

 

GM did put aluminum intakes on some of those carbureted engines in the early/mid 80s. It was really just an aluminum version of the factory cast iron intake. For weight savings, not really a performance intake. GM painted them the same color as the engine.

If memory serves, it's got the factory-style 4-hole carb flange with holes that match up with with the big&little throttle bores of a QJet only (not a big open plenum under the carb like, say, end Edelbrock Performer or other performance aftermarket intake manifold would typically have).

 

My '82 Berlinetta #2, which I was told and looked to me to be all factory stock, had an aluminum intake on it. Even the '79 Caprice we had that had a 2 bbl 305 had an aluminum intake.

Canadian delivered 3rd gens with LG4's apparently had cast iron intakes. Everything else had aluminum.

But, you're right, the were the "spreadbore" configuration, and weren't anything particularly special.

I still have the '86 intake in the garage attic. I suppose it would be an interesting piece of data (history?) to get the casting # off of it, and off of the '82. I"ll try to do that today.
