almost done. few ?s need answers please.

Ok so im all done with my plumbing on my conversion. All i have left is wiring, and lock up the TC.

I have a holley 650dp (4777) and i need to know what bracket's i need for the throttle and the tv cable. i have searched high and low to see if it uses the same as a 4150 or 4160. Im pretty sure it is the same but want to make sure this is correct.

Specs

355
lt4 hot cam
Twisted wedge heads
1.6 rr
Federal mogul piston/rods
Polished crank
650dp (worked)
edelbrock performer intake (i know i need at least a P RPM. but this was free and going to see what she does first)
150 NOS wet shot
6AL msd with blaster 2 coil

any guesstimates on times if i run some drag radials or slicks...?

your carb is a 4150. The 4150 and 4160 use the same brackets. Are you using a 700r4 trans?

You need to make sure you get the correct brackets and geometry correctors then. Its a little more expensive but the best fool proof kit I have seen is the bowtie overdrives "tv made easy" kit.

They have a few different brackets available. I would give them a call and see what they say.

You dont need that kit from bowtie over drive. Its too expensive and not needed. Buy this bracket and you will be fine and have money left over.

If you go with just that bracket your tv cable geometry will not be correct and you seriously risk the life of your trans. If you were using a th-350 that bracket would be perfect.

i just talked to the tech at csr, he said that it does put the tv cable at the correct geometry. Not saying your wrong, but just telling you what he said.

Funny I have been running one on my 650 mighty demon for 2 years and havent had a problem yet. He doesnt need the high dollar crap from bowtie overdrives a simple low cost bracket like the CSR or a Jegs piece will work just fine no need to worry about geometry.

Re: almost done. few ?s need answers please.

I dont want to get into an arguement or a pissing contest here so please don't take this as me sounding like a ****. The throttle valve cable MUST have the correct geometry or you will burn out your clutches. IF you werent aware the line pressure in a 700r4 is controlled by the throttle valve. When you accelerate harder the line pressure (clutch holding pressure) is increased. If the cable is not pulled the correct distance you will have low line pressure and your trans slips. It is also not good for the trans to have the cable pulled too far out as you would be over working the pump constantly. For longevity, power handling and driveability this is a critical point with these transmissions.

If there is a transmission expert on this forum it would be greatly appreciated if they stepped in here.

Thas why the tv cable is adjustable and not at one set length. If it was at one set length the cable would be to tight or to loose for different applications. Since its is adjustable and rachects out to the length it needs to be at wot and the above bracket can be used.

Re: almost done. few ?s need answers please.

Adjusting the cable at WOT does not make it correct for the entire stroke of the throttle. With incorrect geometry the pressure on the throttle valve will be correct at only one throttle postition and incorrect at all others. Think of it as a fulcrum mounted on a shaft. If you mount a cable one inch from the fulcrum point and rotate the shaft 30° you are going to be pulling the cable lets say 3/4". If you use that same fulcrum and shaft and mount the cable 2" away from the fulcrum point the amount of pull on the cable will be drastically different. That is the reason you need the correct brackets and geometry correctors. You can use that bracket but you also need to use the appropriate geometry correctors. After purchasing the brackets, geometry correctors and cable you will have just about the same price as the fool proof bowtie overdrives kit.

Talk to anyone who really knows transmissions to get the correct info. Im done with this topic. You obviously cant be swayed with any amount of the correct info from me.

LOL what ever you say. Your making simple stuff into rocket science for no reason. You use the original tv cable a new bracket set the tv cable to spec using WOT.

The lead your tranny to a slow death because the internal pressure won't be right at part throttle.
