Tach Help
can anybody help me with some info to help me hook up a 5" racing auto meter tach with a carbureted engine a step by step if the coil is in the distributor or if the coil is outside the distributor any help would be appreciated.

Well, it the Coil is inside the dizzy then there should be a prong to hook the tach wire to. I believe there are 3 prongs one of them is for the tach. And the coil is outside of the dizzy. Then hook the wire to one of the post on the coil I don't know which one. But there are plenty of online instrution for hooking up to a outside coil. Red wire is hot with key on, White wire hooks to the lighting on the dimmer/ I got my hook with the power wire, Black wire goes to ground, And I think Autometer is purple goes to Coil/ Ingition box if installed. Autogage is green wire which is same has purple.

Coil in cap: Connect the sensor wire to the "TACH" terminal.
External coil: Connect the sensor wire to the "-" terminal.
External coil: Connect the sensor wire to the "-" terminal.
